Detail, organization, standardization, and adaptability are requirements of any system designed to help investigators improve the efficiency of their efforts, to be more organized and professional, and to increase their financial bottom line. Designed by an investigator for investigators, "The Case File" more than meets those requirements.
But to help you make up your own mind, we've answered a few questions about the Investigator Package.
Welcome to our "FAQ" page.
Is this a system or just forms?
Though forms-based, the "Investigator Package" is NOT a collection of random forms, but a comprehensive system composed of over 110 easy-to-use pages of detailed and professional worksheets and data forms. You can use the system as a whole, or just use the parts you need.
Is The Case File better suited for "newbies" or experts?
Our level of detail provides the new investigator with a massive checklist that prevents them from missing a single detail. This same detail coupled with our organization and ease-of-use provides the seasoned veteran an incredibly professional framework for recording the info they already know to gather.
What's one of the biggest advantages of this system?
The heart of our system is the incredible detail we've packed into such a well-organized frame. Parts of this detail include our proprietary 40-page fill-in-the-blank "Subject Data File" covering everything you'd want to know about your subject from simple name and address through details for a psychological profile. We also have a "Business Data File" covering the same depth of information for a business entity. These are but two sections out of dozens.
Are there any additional sections?
Other sections of the Investigative File allow you to gameplan your investigation, organize your sources utilized, track evidence gathered, log witnesses and their background information, and keep a thorough accounting of labor-hour activity and resource allocation.
How difficult will it be for me to learn to use The Case File?
If you know how to use your wordprocessor, you know how to use The Case File. The layout and contents of "The Case File" are logical and self explanatory. And, since this is the case, and this is not software, there is NO training required! (However, should you ever have a question, technical assistance is always free and is only a phone call or email away. Besides, we've included a detailed "Basic Instruction" file that should answer almost any "how to use" questions.)
Is this system for large or small cases?
The Case File is flexible enough for the small cases and strong enough for the largest. You can either print just a few forms for the little cases, type everything into a file for the medium cases, and our organizational tools help you track where you've put all the components of the most extensive investigations.
How does The Case File help with efficiency?
One of the best ways we increase your efficiency is through investigative standardization. This allows for easier file review, easy case file sharing or reassignment, and facilitates computer data entry from the gathered notes.
Can we customize any of the forms or sections?
One of the most important features of "The Case File" as a whole, is that you are provided with the files on CD so that you can use virtually any word processor to fill out and/or print as many forms or sections as your office needs. You can also customize each case file to the case being worked, add agency letterhead or logos, change the forms, print or leave out select forms, and even select forms or sections of our system to incorporate into yours.
What are some of the more specific forms?
In addition to the main sections that focus on all the actions involved in any case, the bonus forms included allow you to gather the extra data needed for specialty investigations. Included are job-intake / case cover sheets for missing persons, auto accident, theft, arson, wrongful death, crime-scene investigation and more. In total, The Case File carries over 110 pages of useful forms, among which are:
